African Bee Ecology Network (ABEN) is a Canadian federally incorporated not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing sustainable beekeeping, pollinator conservation, ecological research, and inclusive environmental entrepreneurship across Africa.
We operate at the intersection of science, conservation, and community development — recognizing that healthy ecosystems and thriving economies are deeply interconnected.
Through research-informed programming, capacity building, policy advocacy, and cross-continental collaboration between Canada and Africa, ABEN works to protect pollinators while strengthening sustainable livelihoods for smallholder beekeepers, youth, and women.
We believe pollinator protection is not only an environmental responsibility — it is a pathway to long-term food security, climate resilience, and inclusive economic growth.

To promote sustainable beekeeping, pollinator conservation, research, and equitable market access across Africa through science-based initiatives, capacity building, and international collaboration.
.
A resilient Africa where thriving bee populations support biodiversity, climate adaptation, sustainable food systems, and inclusive economic growth for communities.
